Newquay Lighthouse Project – Up & Running

MSP’s most recent partner is Newquay Lighthouse Project (NLP), an organisation formed to support adults seeking to maintain abstinence-based recovery from drugs and alcohol by using mutual aid fellowships. Last year we embarked on this process to find a suitable property for NLP, and we were quickly met with the post-pandemic housing market.

Having seen a few potential properties sell quickly, we knew that we too would need to act swiftly. NLP’s founder, Adam Langer is a board member of MSP – which allowed him to feed directly into the process of finding and delivering a new home for supported living. Working closely with Adam, we were able to review properties and complete our due diligence. The property that was eventually purchased was a 9-bed B&B with the prospects of becoming an 11-bed HMO for NLP. Completing on purchase in November 21, and adding another property to MSP’s portfolio.

The refurbishment works started in January 22, working with the local supplier Irebuild – the works were completed by the end of May. Several local referral organisations have reached out to NLP. Since the launch of the property in June, they have already filled the majority of rooms, and will see more residents joining soon.

“The Newquay Lighthouse Project has had a wonderful start! The residents all love the building and we’ve already filled 8 of the 11 bedrooms – with more soon to arrive. From both staff and residents, our huge thanks to MSP and the investment from shareholders.” Adam Langer – Newquay Lighthouse Project CIC

This is a true example of the impact that MSP aspires to be part of. If you are aware of any other local social enterprises that may be interested in becoming a leasehold partner – click here to fill out a form on our website.
