New Community Share Offer will provide more homes for vulnerable people in Cornwall

February 2024

Mustard Seed Property (MSP) is relaunching it latest share offer, which seeks to raise funds to develop additional housing that will provide urgent support for vulnerable adults in Cornwall.

The latest share offer follows the previous successful raise of £610,000 in 2020, which enabled MSP to acquire and refurbish a property in Newquay. This property is let to the Newquay Lighthouse Project CIC and houses up to eleven men recovering from addiction.

The re-development works on its third property in Redruth will be completed in February 2024 and it is anticipated that the property will then be let to United Response to house, and Karrek Community to support, five autistic adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs from March 2024.

This time MSP is looking to raise £1.8 million from individuals and organisations to:

1. Repay short-term debt used for the development of MSP’s third property in Redruth; and

2. Buy and refurbish the next two properties urgently needed by MSP’s social enterprise and charity partners in Cornwall.

The offer is on the Ethex investment platform. For full details and how to apply, visit the links below.

A strong track record

MSP is a charitable organisation with a track record as a robust commercial investor. In addition to helping those who are less fortunate in Cornwall, investors could also benefit from a good target annual interest rate. The standard minimum investment is £250, but for residents living in Cornwall, this has been reduced to £100.

Suzie Ackford, Director of MSP, said of the share offer: “Housing is a real issue in Cornwall. I have seen Mustard Seed Property in action and know they make a real impact in transforming people’s lives. I invested as I saw this as a way to make a difference.”

Lisa Ashford, CEO of Ethex on the offer: “Ethex recognises Mustard Seed Property as an organisation that creates a real positive impact on the lives of vulnerable people in Cornwall who might otherwise be overlooked. We’re delighted to welcome them back to Ethex, offering our investor community another opportunity to invest in a brighter future for these individuals and the community in Cornwall.”

Daniel Brewer, Director of MSP, said of the share offer: “There are many people in Cornwall who have little ability to fend for themselves and are isolated from family or friends. Cornwall is their home and MSP was set up by people in the county intent on providing the right space for individuals who need it to flourish.”
